The Pioneer Library houses the county's most extensive collection of historical and genealogical materials. It serves as a repository for all types of historical information and welcomes donations of materials. We provide the resources and facilities for a broad spectrum of historical and genealogical research with a knowledgeable staff to assist you. We also sponsor numerous programs, activities, exhibits and seminars throughout the year to highlight areas or events of historical significance to the county and surrounding regions.

 The 25th Annual Quilt Show & Sale
Quilt Show & Sale is Oct. 3 - 12

The Quilt Show & Sale will be Saturday, October 3 through Sunday, October 11; weekends 10:00 am until 5:00 pm and weekdays 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Sunday, October 12 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Quilts can be picked up on the final day at 5:00 pm.

Judith Redline Coopey and her new book “Brothers”

The Bedford County Historical Society is hosting Judith Redline Coopey on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 3:30 pm for a book signing for her newest novel, Brothers, book 2 in the Juniata Iron Trilogy. The trilogy is a three volume family saga set in Mt. Etna, PA, where the Mt. Etna Iron Company thrived in the nineteenth century.


Christmas Tea

at The 1788 Inn

The Bedford County Historical Society is sponsoring a Christmas Tea on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the 1788 Inn. There will be five tea times: 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 pm. Reservations are required.
