Parish History[edit | edit source]
Birmingham St George is an Ecclesiastical Parish in the county of Warwickshire, created in 1830 from Birmingham St Martin, Warwickshire Genealogy Ancient Parish. The living is in the gift of Trustees. St. Stephen's church, in the parish of St. George, situated in Newtown-row. There are places of worship for Baptists, the Society of Friends, Independents, Primitive and Wesleyan Methodists, Swedenborgians, and Unitarians; a Scottish church, and two Roman Catholic chapels.[1]
The church was built in 1822 partly funded as a District Commissioner's church and partly by public subscription.
