Frank Steunenberg, Idaho’s governor from 1897 through 1900, who was murdered after leaving his home office in Caldwell, Idaho. Steunenberg home located on the southeast corner of Dearborn and 16th street, he opened his gate, and the bomb exploded killing him. Harry Orchard fixed the bomb to the gate, he was a member of Western Federation of Miners, confessed and went to prison.
1906 the Union Pacific railroad announced the intention to build a large depot building. In 1889, citizens petitioned the railroad for a new depot. Caldwell became a major shipping point for sheep and the wool industries.
