Known Issues
[edit | edit source]

NOTE: For a way to determine what digital records are likely to be found within a collection or how to find missing images elsewhere, see Article 56000, Using Film Notes in the Catalog to determine the content of a final browse point in Historical Records.

NOTE: Most missing records are available on microfilm.

Question #1: Some records are missing. Where can they be viewed?
Answer #1: See answers below for information about known missing records and their respective film numbers, if available, or alternate online location:

  • Glenn > Death registers 1916-1924 vol 2 and Death Registers 1924-1928 Vol 3 can be found on Film 1786660 Items 2 and 3.
  • Los Angeles, Los Angeles > Death index 1957 vol 51, A-Z and Death index 1958 vol 52, A-Z are missing. These death index records can be found on Film 1358315 Items 2 and 3.

Question #2: The Event Type and Year Range (browse point) title does not properly reflect the actual digital record content. Is there a way to determine what digital records are likely to be found within a collection?
Answer #2: The following list of known browse point discrepancies describes the event type or year range that actually exist in this collection:

Los Angeles [county]

  • Death index 1950 vol 55, N-Z should read as Death index 1950 vol 33, N-Z
  • Death index 1951 A-L should read as Death index Jan-Jul 1951 A-L
  • Death index 1951 M-Z should read as Death index Jan-Jul 1951 M-Z

Los Angeles, Los Angeles [city] browse points below should be located under Los Angeles [county]

  • Death index 1926-1927 vol 13, A-L
  • Death index 1926-1927 vol 13, M-Z
  • Death index 1928-1929 vol 14, A-L
  • Death index 1928-1929 vol 14, M-Z
  • Death index 1930-1931 vol 15, A-L
  • Death index 1930-1931 vol 15, M-Z
  • Death index 1932-1933 vol 16, A-L

Los Angeles, Los Angeles [city] browse points below should be located under Los Angeles [county] and corrected as follows:

  • Death index 1932-1933 vol 16, M-Z browse point is missing and erroneously found in Death index 1934 vol 17, A-L.
  • Death index 1934 vol 17, A-L, which should be corrected to read as Death index 1932-1933 vol 16. M-Z.
  • Death index 1934 vol 17, M-Z, which should be corrected to read as Death index 1934 vol 17, A-L; there already exists a correct browse point Los Angeles > Death index 1934 vol 17, M-Z.

Los Angeles, Los Angeles [city]

  • Deaths 1926 no 4800-6930 should read as Death certificates 1926 no 4800-6930
  • Deaths 1935 no 15932-16944 should read as Death certificates 1935 no 15932-16944
  • Deaths 1936 no 1-1200 should read as Death certificates 1936 no 1-1200
  • Deaths 1936 no 4600-6200 should read as Death certificates 1936 no 4600-6200
  • Deaths 1937 no 1700-3560 should read as Death certificates 1937 no 1700-3560
  • Death index 1956 no 19800-22100 should read as Death certificates 1956 no 19800-22100

Question #3: There is an issue with the index regarding this image.
Answer #2: The year 1876 has been mis-transcribed for all the records as 1846. There is a little flourish on the 7 that the indexer mistook as being a 4, instead of a 7.
