Description of Collections[edit | edit source]

Contains a small collection of print how to books for genealogy and local history. Does not collect microformat material and does not own a microform reader/printer/scanner.


Ancestry Library Edition, Fold3, and Heritage Quest. The Library also contributes to IDA (Illinois Digital Archives)

FamilyTree Magazine, MCIGS Connection Newsletter, MCIGS Quarterly, and the McHenry County Historical Society Newsletter.

McHenry County Illinois Genealogical Society

"The purpose of the McHenry County Genealogical SOciety (MCIGS) is to foster an interest in genealogy, provide instruction in current research methods and practices, and support the preservation of and access to genealogical and historical records."

The Society's Library collection is housed at two area public libraries: Crystal Lake Public Library McHenry Public Library
