Featured Article[edit | edit source]

  1. Draws the reader in.
  2. Offers wide-spread appeal to readers.
  3. Contains less than 500 characters with internal link.
  4. Linked to full article.
  5. Replaced as needed.
  6. Optional: Images; if used they should be relevant to the article.

Did You Know? Article[edit | edit source]

  1. Offers wide-spread appeal to readers.
  2. Contains the following types of information.

a. Newly release genealogical record.
b. Notice of a recently-posted Web site.
c. Review of a new handbook or Web site
d. Others

  1. Limited life span.
  2. Short and concise in number of characters and spaces.
  3. Contains neutral, as opposed to controversial, text.
  4. Posting an article as a way to recognize the author.
  5. Optional: Images; if used they should be relevant to the article.

  1. Includes a sentence or two that is linked to an internal or external site.
  2. Shows an item for immediate release.

a. Date span is helpful but not essential.

  1. Contains clear, simple text.

a. Written on an elementary school (public or private) level.
b. Avoid wordy text.

c. Time period when record was collected.
d. How to use the record.
e. How to a find reference to the record.
i. Online archive or library catalog.

iii. Online or printed material about the record (other than our Wiki).
f. Where the record can be obtained.
g. Tips to help understand record content.
h. Links to related articles or sites containing additional details.
i. Optional: include images.
