Parish History[edit | edit source]
FRISTON, a parish, in the union of Eastbourne, hundred of Willingdon, rape of Pevensey, E. division of Sussex, 3 miles (W. by S.) from Eastbourne.[1]
Friston is an Ancient Parish in East Sussex and neighbours East Dean, St Simon and St Jude,Sussex and the parishes now form a united benfice. Although originally dedicated to St Mary it was rededicated to St James in the 16th century before returning to its original dedication in 1957. .

The parish church of St James/Mary has been designated as a grade I listed building British listed building.
