Known Issues[edit | edit source]
Question 1[edit | edit source]
Question 1: I cannot find records that I have previously found in the old IGI as Individual or Family Group record(s). Where can I locate these records?
Answer 1: A possible source for records that used to be in the IGI is found by using Family Tree. Be certain that you have registered and signed-in to access this feature. You will also have access to tutorials for Family Tree if you need assistance. Please keep in mind that some of this information is contributed by our patrons, as opposed to indexed or transcribed from actual records.
It is also possible that you are not used to (nor looking for) the separation of contributed and indexed IGI records … the search results in the IGI default to the Contributed IGI, and not the Indexed IGI, therefore, you may only see "no records found" (which refers to Contributed only) – not thinking or seeing that there is a second "tab" for Indexed IGI with results.
Please do not forget to include a search for the records you are looking for from the FamilySearch home page. If you still have not found the records you have seen in the previous version of IGI, a final possibility is that this collection is a “work in progress” and therefore is not complete. Thank you for your patience as we work on resolving this issue. Please check back regularly.
