Kittson County, North Dakota was formed 27 Oct 1849 with the Name Pembina (now KITTSON, Minn.) created by Minnesota Territory from non-county area; included parts of present North Dakota and Minnesota. Then on 11 May 1858 When Minnesota Territory became a state. Kittson County was removed from North and South Dakota and renamed Kittson County, Minnesota Genealogy and Kittson County, North Dakota became extinct. [1]
