Llanymynech, Powys, Wales Genealogy
Llanymynech is a village and ecclesiastical parish in both the Powys, Wales and Shropshire, England.
The Wales/England border runs down the centre of the village's main street, with the western half of the village in Wales and the eastern half in England.
Before 1974 those parts of the village in Wales were in the historic county of Montgomeryshire and, between 1974 and 1996 in the County of Powys, Wales Genealogy. In 1996 they became part of the modern County of Powys, Wales Genealogy.

In 1868: "LLANYMYNECH, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of Oswestry, county Salop with a part in the county of Montgomery, 6 miles S.W. of Oswestry, its post town, and 17 N.W, of Shrewsbury. It is situated on the borders of Denbighshire and Montgomeryshire, a small portion of the parish extending into those counties...." (From The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland (1868)).
