Newtown (Welsh: Y Drenewydd) is a village, community and ecclesiastical parish in Powys, Wales.

Before 1974 the village was in the historic county of Montgomeryshire, where it was the county-town. Between 1974 and 1996 it was in the County of Powys, Wales Genealogy and in 1996 it became part of the modern County of Powys, Wales Genealogy.
