OSSINGTON (Holy Rood), a parish, in the union of Southwell, N. division of the wapentake of Thurgarton, S. division of the county of Nottingham, 4 miles (S. S. E.) from Tuxford.[1]

During the Second World War RAF Ossington was used by Bomber Command and as an advanced flying field; Ossington Hall formed part of the accommodation for the RAF station.
