Perak, with its Arabic honorific Darul Ridzuan, or Abode of Grace, is located on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It covers an area of 20,976 km2 (8,099 sq miles). Perak's capitol city, Ipoh, was known for it's tin mining activities. The head of state is the sultan, while the head of government is the Menteri Besar.
The jungles in Perak are highly biodiverse. Its main natural park, Royal Belum State Park [1]was gazetted as National Heritage Site by the federal government in 2012, and inscribed on the World Heritage Site tentative list of UNESCO in 2017. Other natural attractions include bird sanctuaris, caves, forest reserves, islands, limestone cliffs, mountains, and white sandy beaches. [2]
