Chinese Volunteer Association Records[edit | edit source]
These records generally contain information to link family members and identify the place of origin in China. Records are generally written in Chinese characters.
They may also include family histories, memorabilia, and record of membership applications as well as birth, marriage and death registers, ancestral tablets, genealogies, family origin data, relatives. May include other types of Chinese materials such as censuses and immigration records.
These records exist from about 1850 to present. Records may be found in association offices and municipal archives. It is estimated these records cover about 3% of the population.
