Brief History[edit | edit source]

Sandgate's charter was granted August 11, 1761, by Benning Wentworth, Governor of the Province of New Hampshire, the same year as its neighboring towns of Arlington, Manchester, and Rupert. Settlement of Sandgate did not commence until some ten or more years after its charter was granted. [1]
