Sarawak is located in northwest of Borneo Island, covers an area of 124,450 km2 (48,050 sq mile). Its nickname Bumi Kenyalang means land of the Hornbills. Hornbills are important symbols for the Dayak people, representing the spirit of God. Kuching is the capitol city of the state. The head of state is the Governor, also known as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, while the head of government is the Chief Minister.

There are more than 40 sub-ethnic groups in Sarawak, including Dayak[1] (Iban and Bidayuh), Melanau,[2] and Orang Ulu[3].[4]
