Information about photocopying and making digital copies.[edit | edit source]
Self-help copy equipment is available at copy centers on each floor of the Family History Library. The cost for a copy from a book, computer, or microfilm/microfiche is U.S. $.05 for 8 1/2 x 11 and $.10 for 11 x 17 paper. Color copies can also be made on each copier for U.S. $.30 for 8 1/2 x 11 and $.60 for 11 x 17 paper.
Digital copies can be made for free from microfilm, microfiche and books using ScanPro machines and other equipment. Images may be saved to writeable compact discs or flash drives, or attached to an email. To print the digital copy, the cost is the same as listed above. Flash drives and writeable discs can be purchased at the Access Services window on the main floor.
Non-rechargaeble copy cards can be purchased at increments of $2, $5, and $10 in vending machines located throughout the library. There is no cost for the initial purchase of the card. To keep costs to a minimum, copy cards are recycled when there is no balance left on the card and deposited in boxes located next to copy machines and copy card vending machines.
Change and purchases can be made at the Access Service window on the main floor of the library, although there are several change machines located throughout the library.
Making photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material is governed by copyright law. The person using self-help equipment is solely responsible for abiding by copyright law and may be liable for any infringement.
