We had a couple of people who tried to sign up for one or more tasks but had problems figuing out how to put in the tildes. I added a clarification to the page to help with that matter. JamesAnderson 03:43, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
I noticed a Biographies section. It could be completed easily by either providing links to existing biographies on Wikipedia or duplicating them here with Wikipedia's permission. (One perfect example for this particular barn raising would be Charles Carroll of Carrollton.) What say? Johnalbertrigali 01:15, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
There is another place for biographies as well. http://www.biographicalwiki.com/ has been set up for just that. The user group for this wiki and others have been discussing that issue for some time as to what to put in here, what to link to, and where to link to it on pages.
The biographicalwiki.com link I mention features ancestor biographies, it was set up by a person who used to work at the Family History Library in Salt Lake. I've seen this one and it is worth checking out for biographies and setting up pages on as well for those.
Any admin have anything that might help regarding the description of what is wanted for the biographies area on the task list? JamesAnderson 05:13, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Signup glitch found on the tasks signup page. Someone wanted to sign up for Native Races, but it wiped out the link to Jbparker's signup, so I got that partially fixed but it reads differently although it does link to his user page like it did prior to the glitch with the other signup appearing. However, I was unable to get the link to the other person who wanted to work on this to work (even though it is red it still shows the wikitext code around the user name), and after four tries I gave up trying to fix that glitch. James, can you give me a little more detail on what happened, who the person was that wanted to sign up for Native Races, etc. Jbparker 07:23, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
My understanding of what is wanted in the Biographies topic is not actual links to individual biographies, but explanations of and links to collections or data bases of biographies. The Biographies topics page should also teach the user the value of biographies, where to find them, how to use them, their value and their weaknesses, etc., etc. Jbparker 07:26, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
As of this week, I have too many responsibilities and tasks on my plate, so I'm (sadly) ditching my low-priority commitments, which includes my commitment to the Biographies section of this barn raising. Sorry. Johnalbertrigali 21:31, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
I would like to see for each county a map of the known cemeteries similar to the one at URL http://graveyards.com/graveyards/map/IL/Hancock# but I do not have the skill to create such maps. At this point I am working on a list of the cemeteries in Howard County and have found over 200 entries. I am working on getting latitude and longitude for each of them. I have already posted most of the cemeteries I have found within the boundaries of the Ellicott City Ward (Latter-day Saints), my original scope. I have my own template of what should be posted for a cemetery page but would be happy to revise it to conform to a standard if one is developed. I have also posted the known cemeteries in the Elicott City Ward (formerly Catonsville Ward) on the Baltimore County page. Dggard 09:11, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
