Find Your Past - Preserve It For The Future
[edit | edit source]

“In all of us there is a hunger, marrow-deep, to know our heritage- to know who we are and where we have come from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum, an emptiness, and the most disquieting loneliness. ”
― Alex Haley, author of Roots

I love that quote! We need to know the history of our family - our children do, our grandchildren do, and on and on. Many of us are researching our family history to fulfill that inborn desire to connect with our ancestors. That is the first piece of the puzzle, but we are not done yet. When we are gone, our life experiences, family memories, and family history research will all be lost unless we take the time to share it. The family and life histories that we share can and should be meaningful, personal, and powerful.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, don't be. You just need a good partner. Let me help you overcome your individual family history challenges and share your life and family history in a meaningful way.

I began doing family history and genealogy work at home as a teenager. Working on family history with my mother felt like working as a great detective solving mystery after mystery. I loved the stories, and I loved really getting to know my ancestors. They felt real to me for the very first time. Since then, my love for family history has grown dramatically, along with my understanding of effective research.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Marriage, Family and Human Development from Brigham Young University in 2003. There, from an academic perspective, I began to more fully appreciate the power of our family connections. Much of who we are, and who and what we will become originates in our families.

I have continued my genealogical education through advanced course programs at the National Institute of Genealogical Studies. Once a week, I also have the privilege to volunteer as a supervisor at the Regional Family History Center in Sacramento, California. I am a proud member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the National Genealogical Society, and seek to uphold their standards of both professional research and ethics. Genealogy and family history work is amazing, and I am grateful to be a part of it.
