I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, born in Neuss, Germany then migrated with my parents and siblings (1 sister, 1 brother) to Australia. Three more children were born here after arrival.
I became interested in Family History after joining the church in 1995 with my husband. We were married in 1979 and then sealed in the Sydney Australia Temple in 1996. We have two sons and two granddaughters. We have recently retired to Country Victoria a small town called Warragul, where I have been asked to look after the Family History Centre in Moe. FHC work is all new to me but I hope to learn as fast as possible.
So far all the ancestors I have found were born in Germany mostly in NordRheinWestfalen and Westfalen. Some of the names I am researching are:
On my Father's side: Roehlen (my maiden name), Terhaag, Otten, Giehlings, Topeters, Scheres, Schmitz, Mostard, Quartz
On my Mother's side: Surmann, Krude, Winzen, Wehmeier, Beltrub, Herdick, Rommerscheid, Bremer, Raussen, Renger, Schuetters, Jevers.
DNA results tell me my ancestors, in the distant past, originated from Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and British/German. I have yet to find any Ancestors not born in Germany.
My working background is in various areas of Information Technology including Programming / Analysis / Project Management and Strategy.
