Prioritizing vital records project backlog[edit source]

Will you take a look at the Requirement Backlog (second table) on FamilySearch Wiki:WikiProject U.S. Vital Records and rank the requirements/stories in priority order by noon Thursday? You can do this by the Delphi method: Give the lowest amount of points (1) to the lowest-priority item and the highest (41? 42?) to the highest-priority item. We're doing this individually because it's so hard to get everyone together for a meeting. We need to get this done by 5 PM Thursday 2 July so each individual can choose their stories and plan their tasks for the sprint.

After we tally the points for each item, we'll re-sort the backlog in priority order. Then we'll individually choose stories we want to attack during the sprint. Thanks! Ritcheymt 12:33, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Post stories on the sprint board[edit source]

Thanks for all you've done to engage in the wiki project individually and as part of the team! Could you please do the following to help the team take the next step?

  1. Post your velocity (hours available) to work on the project through 31 June by your name on the board.
  2. Pull stories (in priority order) from the backlog and post them on the sprint board.
  3. For each story you post on the sprint board, write out sub-tasks for those stories in your chosen color and place those tasks in the Tasks column on the board.
  4. In the corner of each task, write an estimated number of hours to complete the task.

Solution to problem with editing renamed pages[edit source]

I did some research on the problem regarding users not being able to edit Alabama Vital Records. The problem was occurring because the page had been renamed twice. I wanted to delete Alabama Vital Records- Civil Registration but didn't want to lose the history. I checked to learn that when pages are renamed, all the history of the original page is transferred to the second iteration of the page. I verified that it works that way on our wiki as well. Then I navigated to Alabama Vital Records- Civil Registration, clicked the What Links Here link, and went to all the pages that linked to Alabama Vital Records- Civil Registrationand changed the links so that they point instead to the current iteration of the page (Alabama Vital Records). Then I did the same process for Alabama, United States, Search Strategies for Locating Births, Marriages and Deaths. After fixing the links, I deleted that page too because someday we will have strategy/research guidance pages in the wiki, so we may as well free up those titles now rather than wait.
I don't think anyone on the U.S. Vital Records Project team has deletion rights, but I do. So what I need y'all to do is edit all the pages that link to all the [State] Vital Records- Civil Registration pages and all the [State], United States, Search Strategies for Locating Births, Marriages and Deaths pages and change the links so they point instead to the [State] Birth, Marriage, and Death Records pages. Let me know when you're done and I'll go in and delete all the [State] Vital Records- Civil Registration pages and all the [State], United States, Search Strategies for Locating Births, Marriages and Deaths pages.
