Hello Bro. Ellsworth, I received your request to join the group Wiki Missionaries. This is a closed group, for those called to serve as FamilySearch Wiki Missionaries, so I won't be approving your request. I assume from your request that you have been searching through other groups to join, which is great! Many are open to anyone interested. Have you already joined the Family History Center group? That would be perfect for your calling.

Thank you! psleavens, Wiki Support Team (talk) 19:03, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

The Files I've submitted and how to improve them.[edit source]

Hello, there, I'm a Newbie at Wiki. I've already submitted several files in my wiki called "Spanish Handwriting Clarified". If I want to improve one of these several files, which contain examples of Hispanic handwriting, how do I improve or correct the file? I assume I have to repair, add to or delete from the file. For example, part of my wiki is introduced with this: "Here are the letters H, L, S, s, Z and z". I need to correct an error in the 6th line down where it says "Lucia Rosas". I want to change that to say "Lucia Rojas". I assume I must make the correction to the original and resend the file for re-approval, however, what happens to the original file? Will it just clutter-up FamilySearch wiki with a file I'll no longer use? As a matter of fact, I anticipate adding to each file new examples of handwriting Hispanic names as I find them.

I hope the answer is that the corrected file will replace the original file in each case. Am I right about that?

I anxiously await an answer. Bless you all. Lynn Ellsworth Throckmorton36 (talk) 00:57, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi Lynn, sorry for the delay in answering you. We missed this correspondence directed at us. You can resend the image and we can re-upload the image for you and replace the old one. When you describe the file you are submitting, just tell us the URL to the image on the Wiki and then we will know to replace that previous version. Thanks! I need a mentor! I'm a newbie. What kind of wiki user am I? (Bots, Administrators, Bureaucrats, Moderator, Reviewer, editor, pagecreator.) Throckmorton36 (talk) 01:37, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Modification to Help:Wiki University pages[edit source]

Hello Throckmorton36...

By way of introduction, I am Sister Henny Wong, Training Lead on the FamilySearch Wiki.

It has been brought to my attention that you are a new user and have been making modifications to the Help:Wiki University pages. While we welcome changes to most of the Wiki pages, we request that, in the future, you check with us BEFORE making any changes to the Help:Wiki University pages.

Reason? We provide training to new missionaries supporting the FamilySearch Wiki and we use the documentation from these pages as our guide. Changes to the documentation without our prior knowledge often has an unsettling effect on our instructors. I'm sure you can appreciate our dilemma when we discover a modification to a training document in the middle of class; one that we knew nothing about. We appreciate your cooperation regarding this request.

If you have any questions, please feel free to use the system's talk messaging option. Thank you and aloha...Sister Wong.
