United States Research Seminar[edit | edit source]

Family History Library

Reserve your spot now for the Family History Library’s free week-long United States Seminar. The seminar, which will be held August 22nd - 26th 2016, is perfect for beginning and intermediate genealogists interested in learning about U.S. regions and records, FamilySearch resources, and Family History Library collections. In-house seating is limited to 120 attendees and this year all classes will be held as webinars except for the hands on activities. We ask that all participants register for the seminar. Each in-house participant will be provided a free spiral-bound syllabus containing all class handouts and materials. Those attending by webinar will be able to print the handouts at their home.

Reservations Now Open for the European Family History Conference[edit | edit source]

The Family History Library and the Research Specialists of the European Reference team invite you to a free, never before offered, week-long conference focused exclusively on European research. The conference, which will be held September 12th - 16th, 2016, is perfect for beginning and intermediate genealogists interested in learning about records of European localities, and Family History Library collections.

Come and spend a week at the world renowned Family History Library learning from our expert staff of genealogists as well as experienced guest genealogists. Learn how to effectively use historical records, and how to do research in several European countries. Explore such topics as census, church, immigration, and vital records. All of the classes and LABS will also be broadcasted as webinars. Webinar attendance for classes is limited to 500 while webinar attendance for LABS is limited to 100 spots.

Main Floor Construction[edit | edit source]

Main Floor Computer Area

Beginning on August 29, 2016 and ending January 2017, the main floor will be closing to begin construction on a Discovery Center. There will be no access to the main floor computer area, classrooms, restrooms, or the snack room during this time. All services provided on the main floor will be moved to the 3rd floor. Guests may use the lunchroom on the 3rd floor until the construction is completed. The Discovery Center will be open before the RootsTech Conference begins on February 8, 2017.







Computer Labs Added to the B1 and B2 Floors[edit | edit source]

The Family History Library has added computer labs to the classrooms on the B1 and B2 floors.
