Wrexham Wrexham Registration District
The Wrexham Registration District came into existence of 1 July 1837 and was based on the boundaries of the existing Wrexham Poor Law Union, which included parts of the counties of Denbighshire, Flintshire and Cheshire (across the border in England).

On 1 April 1853, the Malpas sub-district was abolished, and replaced by the Holt sub-district. This district was substantially the same as that of Malpas but with the loss of many of the Cheshire townships to the Whitchurch Registration District in Shropshire.

In 1871, the Hope sub-district was abolished. Its Flintshire parishes and townships being transferred to the Hawarden sub-district of the Chester Registration District and its Denbighshire parishes and townships being transferred to the Holt sub-district of the Wrexham Registration District.
