Founded July 1, 1881 by Immigrant, Don Bonocio Lienze Feliu, Barceloneta ("Little Barcelone") was one of the last municipalities created by the Spanish Government in Puerto Rico. Around 1900, Barceloneta was annexed into town of Manati. Eleven years later, the government reinstated Barceloneta as a municipality. Population of 24,800. [1]
