Coles County is named for Edward Coles who was the second Governor of the State of Illinois.
Description[edit | edit source]
The county was named for Edward Coles, the second governor of Illinois from 1822 to 1826. The County Seat is Charleston and was founded December 25, 1830.[2] It is located in the Central area of the state.[3]
