Cemetery Records[edit | edit source]

Names and surnames of officials, the deceased and sometimes their relatives; dates; Biographical information.

NOTE: These records deal mostly with the organization of cemeteries and some legality concerning cemetery officials and problems concerning each cemetery.
Where are the records?

Archivo Nacional de Historia, section called Hospitales y Cementerios, index; some local hospitals.


1877 to present

Exhumation Records[edit | edit source]

Burial date, names and surnames of the deceased, vault number and type (special, niche-perpetual or rented); Exhumation date and where they were re-buried.

Burial Records[edit | edit source]

Names and surnames of the deceased, type of vault, marital status, age, sex, residence before death, cause of death; observations.

NOTA.  Hay un cementerio Judio que contiene unos 150 bovedas, el mas antiguo remontando a 1937.

Oficinas de cementerios (Administraciones) in each cemetery; in Bogota the records from 1877-1927 are in the Archivo del Consejo.

Cementerio San Pedro

It contains records from the middle of the 19th century.

It has very complete information, including immediate relatives of the deceased, the doctor who attended the death, etc.
