Not to be confused with seven other Eagle Islands[1] on the Maine coast,
including the one in Casco Bay that is now a state park.

Eagle Island is now unorganized territory of Hancock County in Penobscot Bay west of Deer Isle and northeast of North Haven. During the American Civil War, this island became a "military plantation" and was called that by the Maine legislature as late as 1875.[2]
