State Information[edit | edit source]
Negeri Sembilan (Arabic honorific title: Darul Khusus, or the Special Abode) lies on the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It covers an area of 6,686 km2 (2,581 sq miles). The ruler of the state is known as Yang di-Pertuan Besar, instead of sultan. He is selected by the council of Undangs who lead the four territories of Sungai Ujong, Jelebu, Johol, and Rembau. The capitol of Negeri Sembilan is Seremban.
The Minangkabau people brought a matrilineal system of inheritance and administration that is unique to this state.[1][2]
