History of Providence Cemetery[edit | edit source]

In 1849, Georgia Natives, David Kennedy Thomas, and his brother, Zachariah moved their families in the Ringgold area. Both were farmers. Zachariah also was a Primitive Baptist minister. in November of 1850, David Kennedy Thomas gave 2 acres of land for the development of New Providence Primitive Baptist Church and Cemetery. Additional land was later purchased for more cemetery space.
