Some copies are on microfilm at the Family History Library, some are kept by individuals, and some have been published. Annapolis, Colchester, Halifax, Kings, Lunenburg, Pictou, and Queens counties have extensive cemetery listings. The northern portion of Cumberland County has been recorded. The Antigonish Casket, which has an index of deaths for the eastern portion of the province, is available at the Public Archives of Nova Scotia.

Since most cemeteries in Nova Scotia are church cemeteries, requests can be made directly to the clergymen of the individual churches. Many churches have burial registers.
