Acquired by the state government in 1960, the building was listed and restored by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage, and now houses the Museum of Art and History of Rio Grande do Norte, from 1965 to 1978. On March 12, 1979, it started to host the Casa Café Filho Museum, justifying its historical relationship with the patron. In this townhouse, Café Filho was a political activist, created and presided over the Workers Union for two years.
