The Swedish Military Genealogical Word List shows Swedish words and their English translations for many words that are found in documents from the Swedish army and navy. If the word you are looking for is not on this list, please consult a Swedish-English dictionary such as the Swedish Historical Dictionary Database, SHDD.

Swedish English
frikallad exempt from värnplikt (obligated service after 1901) for men who were physically, mentally, or due to family responsibilities unable to serve. A man could also pay an annual fee for exemption. Often abbreviated Frik. in the parish records.
