Tyler County was created and organized on 3 April 1846 from Liberty County. County seat: Town Bluff (1846-1847), Woodville (1847- present). In 1841, Tyler County was originally organized as Menard District, a judical division; however, when the Texas Supreme Court declared these districts illegal, Congress created Tyler County.
