In 1911, the two provinces of Northeastern and Northwestern Rhodesia were amalgamated under the name of Northern Rhodesia. In 1924 the British South Africa Company was relieved of the administration of the territory by the Crown. The independent Republic of Zambia was organized in 1964 after the dissolution of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland.[1]
